My pain in tourism

One of the things about tourism that inherently pains me is when the locals try to make money off of their mountains and beaches. I mean I get it. You need money. But really? You’re telling me that your mountains and beaches — your treasure — are only worth this much?

If you do it to make a living, I get it.

But if you do it to make money, do you really have no backbone that you bow down so low?

I want to help people. But I only want to help the people who are strong enough to stand with their backbone. I only want to help those who’d rather give up their chances of getting rich than putting their treasure up for sale.

I treasure my dignity. Dignity is my treasure as a human. And I have to constantly remind myself of that so I don’t get lost in the fog as well.
